Sara Crawford is a singer/songwriter from Atlanta, Georgia and formerly one half of the indie band, Pocket the Moon. Also, she is a produced playwright/screenwriter, an actress/performer, and a published poet. She was voted Best Local Songwriter by Creative Loafing in 2010 and Best Vocalist by Creative Loafing in 2011. Voted BEST LOCAL VOCALIST in Creative Loafing's Best of Atlanta 2011 and BEST LOCAL SONGWRITER in Creative Loafing's Best of Atlanta 2010
The second collection of poems from Sara Crawford! In a collection of poems inspired by the Atlanta music scene, Atlanta's own musician/playwright/poet, Sara Crawford (of Pocket the Moon/voted Best Local Vocalist in Creative Loafing's Best of 2011), takes us through a journey of the unappreciated indie musician playing night after night in smoke-filled dive bars all for the love of music. Every poem in this collection references an indie band that has played in Atlanta, specifically at the Drunken Unicorn, The Earl, or the Star Bar. Open mic night at Cool Beans! Sara Crawford is now hosting an open mic night at Cool Beans in the Marietta Square on the first and third Friday of the month. Stop by and read a poem, sing a song, drink some coffee! Sara starts the night off with some of her own music and/or poetry! (There will only be one open mic night in May - 5/11 - and then we'll do 6/1 and 6/15 in June - to stay updated, like the Open Mic Facebook Page.) Pocket the Moon on an indefinite hiatus From the Pocket the Moon blog - We have decided to go our separate ways and leave Pocket the Moon behind for the time being. Geoff and I are still very much on good terms. However, I want to take my solo music a step further and really pursue being a solo singer/songwriter. You have definitely not heard the last from either Geoff or myself. You can continue to follow Geoff in his other projects (Low UFO, Divine Isis), and I will definitely be doing my solo thing. I also have some collaborations in the works with other artists, and I have many other artistic projects going on as always (upcoming play readings and productions, an upcoming book of poems to be released, etc.). I wanted to write and say thank you to everyone for all of the support. This past year has been a total blast, and we were able to accomplish so much in a short period of time because of your support.
